The Basset Hound is a heavy-boned, low scenthound with an exceptional nose, calm nature, and affectionate, sociable temperament. Independent and sometimes stubborn, it needs gentle, reward-based training, moderate daily exercise, secure fencing, and regular ear and skin care.
