Puppies and children in the household

If you have children, it’s important not to let them be alone with the puppy – especially at the beginning. Children need to learn that a dog is not a toy and must be treated with great respect. Let the puppy decide for itself if and when it wants to play. If it shows signs that it wants to be left alone, the children must respect that. It’s better to let the puppy get to know everyone in the family calmly and at its own pace before you start playing with it – follow the puppy’s lead.
